Mercedes design returns to the eighties...

...white aftermarket extravaganza straight from the factory.

First the new A-Class which could be anything, and from the back looks suspiciously like the Citroen DS3. The front over hang is also very citroenesque: ridiculously long, which really only works on very few cars. was that Mercedes' way to tell the world: look, we really changed from the old A-class? no more short overhangs and space maximization, no, now we're going to build something that looks vaguely like and aardvark.

But if the A-Class was bad (not to speak of the SL), then the GLK looks truly horrific. the front-end looks like something out of a Brabus catalogue of the mid-80s, and the white colour doesn't help. once upon a time Mercedes was classy and restrained, now its confused and over the top. and I am not generally against experimenting. I have grown quite fond of the original Bangle 6 series (as opposed to the very boring and very 'American' new one), but there's no concept and only bling in the MB design. the day-light driving lights? this weird angry eyebrow blob, since its hardly slim enough to be called a line? who ever thought that this would enhance the car's appeal?
